Chris Manacci is one of the international speakers for the ISAS/FNA08 Conference and was educated with a Master of Science in Nursing at the Case Western Reserve University as an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner, and a Critical Care Registered Nurse.
Chris and his family live in Cleveland, Ohio, USA and he is excited to be travelling to Australia to be involved in the ISAS/FNA08 Conference.
Some of the International Awards and Honours Chris has received include; the 2007 Barbra Hess Award for outstanding contributions to research and education in air medical services and the 1999 International Crewmember of the Year from the Association of Air Medical Services.
His current clinical appointments include the Cleveland Clinic, the Emergency Services Institute, the Critical Care Transport Services, and the Cardiothoracic Surgical Critical Care unit. A couple of Chris' present and former positions include; |

| Peter Randell Royal Flying Doctor Service, QLD |

Peter has worked with the Royal Flying Doctor Service for eight years. He commenced with Central Operations as a line pilot in Alice Springs in 2000 and progressed to the position of Chief Pilot & SA Operations Manager, based in Adelaide. Recently Peter has transferred to the Queensland section of the RFDS as Deputy general Manager - Aviation.
During his time in Adelaide he became the principle driver of the development of a FRMS for use by RFDS, Central Operations. This was a joint project with the Centre for Sleep Research (CSR) and Peter was a Co-Researcher with CSR on the Australian Research Council assisted project.
The Central Operations FRMS is not limited to aviation alone but was specifically designed to incorporate all facets of its aero-medical business (medical, nursing, engineering, tasking, aviation, admin support and management).
His interest in the area of fatigue risk management was recognised by both the RFDS and the Regional Aviation Association of Australia in both nominating him to serve on the CASA (Civil Aviation Safety Authority) FRMS working party in the development of a new CAO 48 which allows industry to develop personal FRMS’s. This project includes the development of CAAP (Civil Aviation Advisory Publication) guidelines and an NPRM (Notice of Proposed Rule Making). He has now been working with this group on this project for about one year’. |

| Associate Professor William (Bill) Griggs AM South Australian State Retrieval Service, SA |

Associate Professor William (Bill) Griggs is currently the Director of Trauma Services at Royal Adelaide Hospital and has also held roles as Senior Consultant for the SA State Retrieval Service, State Controller (Health) for South Australia, Regional Ambulance Medical Officer with SA Ambulance Service, Clinical Associate Professor at university of Adelaide, and Chair of Australia Defence Force Retrieval and Critical Care Consultative group.
Dr Griggs has worked for 15 years as a volunteer paramedic (1976-1990) and continues to work for the South Australian Ambulance Service. His career covers over 25 years of involvement in Aeromedical transport and rescue, with more than 700 Aeromedical evacuations in over 25 civilian and 8 military aircraft types including six maritime winch rescue operations.
As a Royal Australian Air Force Specialist Reservist, he was deployed operationally on multiple occasions including the first Gulf War in 1991, Bougainville in 1994 and 1998, INTERFET in East Timor in 1999, both Bali bombings (2002 and 2005), Banda Aceh following the Asian tsunami in 2004, and to the crash of garuda 737 gA200 in 2007.
With a long term interest in airway management, Dr Griggs has invented and patented a pair of forceps and a procedure for performing percutaneous tracheostomy now sold worldwide (40,000 – 50,000 kits per year). |

| Terry Martin Consultant Intensivist, UK, Director, CCAT Aeromedical |

Terry Martin is former RAF doctor and helicopter pilot with a broad background in anaesthetics, ICU, emergency medicine, general practice, and aviation medicine. He has worked in every aspect of civilian and military mixed wing and helicopter Aeromedical transport since the 1980s including director of the Otago university aeromedical retrieval and transport courses until June 2008. He is currently a consultant intensivist in England and directs the ‘Clinical Considerations in Aeromedical Transport’, ‘Medical Emergencies in Flight’ and the ‘Helicopter Medical Flight Crew’ courses in the UK.
